When a Messenger is viewed on a mobile device, DF Studio automatically provides a layout optimized for touch interaction and smaller displays. The feature set matches that of a Messenger viewed on a desktop web browser, with a few adjustments and enhancements to fit the mobile context.
A Messenger begins as a secure link in an email message, which contains further details about the expiration date, and any requests from the DF Studio sender. Each Messenger link is unique to its recipient, though the same group of assets can be shared with multiple recipients at once.
The link will open in a web browser on the mobile device. (In some cases, a PIN will be required to access the Messenger. See Messenger PIN for further details.)
Each new Messenger begins with an introductory overlay displaying details regarding the Messenger and its sender. To skip this overlay when accessing this Messenger in the future, tap to check the circle next to the words "Don't show this message again" before dismissing the overlay.
For details regarding the Messenger Menu, see Navigate a Mobile Messenger.
Next, the Messenger will display a proofsheet grid of images. A menu (accessible from the icon at the top left) provides access to additional information and features specific to the Messenger, with a “Complete” button for transmitting information or final decisions on images back to the sender in DF Studio.
View Images
Images are displayed in a proofsheet grid view by default, but can also be displayed in 1-Up view by tapping on the thumbnail image. Use the navigation icons at the bottom of the 1-Up view to move from one image to the next, or swipe left or right across the image.
Zoom in on any preview by pinching two fingers apart in a standard “enlarge” gesture. Enter a full-screen zoom interface by tapping the “zoom” icon in the top right corner.
Exit the full screen zoom view by tapping the “close” icon in the top right corner.
Return to the grid by tapping the grid icon in the upper right of the 1-Up view.
Submit Approvals or Selects
If enabled by the Messenger sender, buttons for submitting approvals on the images (YES / NO) or select levels (1st / 2nd / Kill) will appear beneath each preview image. Use these to record decisions on each image. See Complete a Mobile Approval Messenger for further details.
View Captions
If enabled, an icon to view image captions will be present along the bottom toolbar of the Messenger view. Tap to enter the caption view, and tap again to return to the default 1-Up view. For more information about features available in the Mobile Messenger, see Navigate a Mobile Messenger.
Update Asset Metadata
If enabled by the Messenger sender, a Metadata icon will appear beneath the 1-Up view. Tap to reveal the metadata editor panel, where metadata may be reviewed or updated as enabled by the sender. See Mobile Metadata Messenger for further details.
Work With Notes
If the sender has attached a Note to the Messenger, a Note icon will be displayed below the 1-Up view. Tap to read the description and list associated with the Note. See Work With Notes in a Messenger for more information.
Messenger Conversations
If the sender has enabled Conversations on the Messenger, the appropriate icon will appear at the bottom of the 1-Up view. Messengers may have a Group Conversation enabled, which allows comments between all recipients and the DF Studio sender, or a Private Conversation directly between the sender and each individual recipient, or both. Tap the Conversations icon to view and participate in any Messenger Conversations.
Tap “Add Comment” at the bottom of any comment thread to begin typing a comment on an individual asset. When finished, tap “Return” on the on-screen keyboard, or tap the “Save” button to submit. Comments in a Conversation are submitted immediately—that is, it is not necessary to submit the Messenger in order for the sender (or other recipients) to view and reply to comments. Replies from the Messenger sender (or other recipients) will appear in the conversation thread. See Work With Notes in a Messenger for additional details.
Download Files
If the sender has enabled file downloads, a download icon will be displayed below the 1-Up view. Tap to access files for download. See Mobile Download Messenger for more information.
The feature panels persist across all assets, so it is possible to swipe through multiple assets in 1-Up view without tapping each time to reveal a particular feature. Tap the icon again to dismiss the feature panel and return to the standard 1-Up preview.
Complete a Messenger
When all information has been added (for example, setting approvals, updating metadata, or participating in Messenger Conversations), tap the menu icon in the top left and tap “Submit” or “Complete” from the Messenger Menu to reveal a screen for submitting the Messenger and notifying its sender. An optional message can be submitted along with the completed Messenger, which will be attached to the Messenger in the sender’s DF Studio account. Tap “Submit” to complete the Messenger.
Expiration
Messengers will automatically expire on the date mentioned in the Messenger email, and may be expired earlier by the sender in DF Studio if necessary. After a Messenger expires, the Messenger will no longer be viewable by the recipient, and no information or decisions can be added or changed.
