DF Studio’s Mobile Messenger is designed to make the most of touch-based interaction while delivering an experience tailored to a smaller display. The following guide provides an introduction to the key interface elements.
The default view in the Mobile Messenger is grid view, which displays a grid of thumbnail preview images for all of the assets included in the Messenger. This view will show the approval status or select level of each asset with a colored border, and offer a scrollable view of all of the Messenger’s assets for quick navigation. Across the bottom of the frame, the full number of included assets is displayed (along with a “refresh” button for LIVE Messengers).
Tap the “help” icon at the bottom right of any screen in the Mobile Messenger for additional tips.
Tap any preview to enter 1-Up view, displaying a detailed preview along with buttons for additional functionality. The 1-Up icon in the top right will also open 1-Up view for the most recently selected asset (or the first asset if none have been selected).
The Messenger Menu
The Messenger Menu is accessible from the menu icon at the top left of every Mobile Messenger view. It provides access to a number of features that would normally appear in the sidebars of the desktop Messenger layout.
Not all features are enabled on all Messengers.
The PDF Proofsheet button opens an interface for generating a printable proofsheet of all of the Messenger’s asset previews in a grid. The grid layout can be customized and the resulting PDF file can be downloaded to the mobile device or opened in another app.
Forward displays a form for sharing the same set of assets with an additional recipient, via a new unique link. Selects made by the sender or the original recipient will not be visible to the forwarded recipient, but all other features will be the same.
For LIVE Messengers, a Notification Preferences button will appear, which allows the customization of email notifications sent when new assets are added to the Messenger. LIVE Messengers will also have a Refresh button to load the latest assets added by the sender in DF Studio.
The Complete or Submit Approvals button reveals a field for sending optional feedback to the Messenger’s sender, along with a “Submit” button to complete the Messenger, storing its select levels, and notifying the sender.
Tap Info to reopen the overlay of Messenger information which was displayed when the Messenger opened. This includes information about the Messenger sender and recipient.
The Help button provides an overview of Messenger features and functionality, customized for the type of Messenger, and including a link to further help from the Knowledge Base.
The Messenger Menu also contains a summary of information about the Messenger’s sender, for quick access, as well as links to view more information about the DF Studio Messenger, and a “Desktop” icon to load the desktop Messenger interface (which may not be fully functional on a mobile device).
1-Up view displays a detailed preview with additional functionality. Swipe right or left to move back or forward through the Messenger’s assets, or tap the navigation buttons in the bottom corners. Tap the grid icon in the top right to return to grid view.
Below the detailed preview, buttons are available to set a select level for the asset (or, for Approval Messengers, YES/NO buttons for approvals). Tap any button to set the select level, and the colored border of the preview will reflect the change. If the Messenger sender has already created an edit, the select levels from that edit will be displayed beneath the appropriate select level buttons.
Zoom in on a detailed preview by pinching with two fingers in a standard “enlarge” gesture. Previews can be zoomed up to 250% and dragged around the viewing area to reveal further detail. Tap the “close” button to close the zoom view and return to the 1-Up display.
If enabled by the Messenger sender, additional buttons will appear in the bottom menu bar between the navigational buttons.
Tap the Download icon to access buttons for direct download of the files associated with an asset.
The Caption icon reveals the sender’s caption for the asset in DF Studio.
The Conversations icon opens the Conversations interface, where comments can be added to an asset, and comments from the sender will appear. (For more information, see Start Conversations Around an Asset.)
The Download, Caption, and Conversations views persist across all assets, so it is possible to swipe through multiple assets in 1-Up view without tapping each time to reveal a particular feature. Tap the icon again to dismiss the feature view and return to the standard 1-Up preview.
If enabled, tapping the Download icon in 1-Up view displays a list of files associated with the asset for download. Tap any file in the list to access the full file in a separate browser tab/window, which can then be downloaded directly to the device.
Each device treats file downloads somewhat differently, but the usual process involves tapping and holding on the file in the browser window to display a menu with options to save it to the device.
Multi-Messengers contain multiple collections of assets, with each collection viewable in its own Messenger interface. Multi-Messengers will begin on a Table of Contents instead of grid view. Tap the name of any collection to enter its grid view.
To return to the Table of Contents at any time, to switch to another collection of assets, or to complete the Multi-Messenger, tap the Table of Contents button in the Messenger Menu.
