With a recent enhancement to the “Export as Text” feature, DF Studio has streamlined the previously cumbersome task of reverting renamed images back to their original filenames.
With the addition of the “Original Name” option among each asset’s exportable fields, you’re able to generate a CSV containing that information and import it back into DF Studio to update all of the included images simultaneously.
Here are some step-by-step instructions to walk through the process:
1. Select the images that need to be renamed and press the “Export as Text” button in the Inspector Panel. Uncheck all of the fields except for DFS ID and Original Name, then click “Export”.
2. Use the “Import Metadata” button in the Inspector to upload this newly generated CSV.
3. Make sure “DFS ID” is selected under “Match By,” and then use the dropdown menu to pick the column in the spreadsheet that contains the IDs. Use the dropdown menu next to the Original Name label to associate it with the “Asset Name” metadata field.
4. Click “Import Metadata” to begin the metadata update. You can check on the progress of this operation using the Activity Monitor.
In just a few steps, you’ve updated all of the included assets back to their original filenames.
We hope this enhancement can prove to be a useful tool for your work in DF Studio. Feel free to reach out to DF Studio Support if you have questions or feedback.
