Notes represent a powerful set of collaboration tools for exchanging comments and visual annotations on a set of images. The following details outline the use of Notes in a DF Studio Messenger. For information on sending Messengers with Notes, see Collaborate With Messenger Recipients.
View Notes
Not every Messenger is sent with Notes enabled. If Notes are enabled on a Messenger, the “Notes” button will appear in the menu sidebar at the left of the Messenger window. Click this button to toggle the display of the Notes tab in the right-hand sidebar of the Messenger.
With the Notes tab visible, click any individual asset to view its Notes content, or view an asset in 1-Up view to see its Notes and visual annotations.
The Note for each asset begins with an optional description, which is stored with the asset in DF Studio and identical for all Messengers that have that Note attached.
List Items
Along with the description, each Note may include a list of items which can be checked or un-checked by any Messenger recipient or any user from the DF Studio account. When a list item is checked or un-checked, the change will be visible in the DF Studio account and in other Messengers within moments.
List items may have visual annotations attached, which can be viewed individually or grouped to display all of an item’s visual annotations at once. For details, see Visual Annotations, below.
In the Mobile Messenger interface, Notes content and Conversations are displayed on two separate panels. Tap the Note icon to review the Note’s description and list, and tap the Conversation icon to participate in Conversations.
Conversations
The Messenger’s sender may have enabled one or more Conversations within the Notes tab for the Messenger. The sender, as well as other administrative users in the DF Studio account, can view and participate in all Conversations.
If a Group Conversation is enabled, it will appear under a “Group Conversation” header. All recipients of the same Messenger can view the Group Conversation on each asset, and contribute comments. If a Private Conversation is enabled, it will appear under a header beginning with “Private,” and its comment thread will only be visible to users in the DF Studio account, not other Messenger recipients.
Click “Add Comment” at the bottom of any Conversation thread to add a new comment, along with visual annotations, if desired (see Visual Annotations, below). The comment thread will update within a few moments of a new comment being added by any participant.
After a comment has been posted, it may be edited or deleted by its author. Hover the mouse pointer over the comment, then click the “edit” icon to make changes.
The comment editing interface allows for adjusting the text, modifying or removing the visual annotations, or deleting the entire comment. Once editing is complete, click the “Save” button.
Visual Annotations
In the Notes tab, visual annotations may be attached to any comment or list item. These are a series of markups directly on the preview image to highlight areas or clarify the intent of the comment. Enter 1-Up view using the “Single” icon in order to access visual annotations.
Each individual markup on a comment or list item may be viewed by hovering the mouse pointer over its icon. This highlights the markup on the image with a “spotlight” effect for easy identification. Each markup icon can also be clicked to display its markup persistently on the image.
Visual annotations associated with a list item or comment may be displayed together by hovering the mouse pointer over the text and then clicking the “view” icon. To exit this display mode, click the “view” icon again, or click the “view” icon on another list item or comment.
When adding or editing a comment in 1-Up view, a set of image markup tools will appear surrounding the comment box. Using these, it is possible to create or modify individual markups on the 1-Up preview image. Provide text in the comment box and click the “Save” button to store the visual annotations. To discard all visual annotations, click the “Cancel” button.
For more about visual annotations, including a detailed description of the image markup tools, see the guide to Visual Annotations.
