Setups are sub-groupings within a DF Studio Project based on the subjects or events of a photo shoot. On the desktop, Setups are the sub-folders that a digital technician or photographer will create to divide up a large photo shoot. In DF Studio, this same organizational hierarchy is represented as a list in a drop down menu within a Project or Collection.
Setups can be created automatically when uploading images, or by selecting and grouping images within a DF Studio Project. By default, assets not uploaded to any specific Setup can be viewed by filtering to No Setup.
View Images by Setup
In this example, the Project has 48 images, and when grouped by Setups, its Setups are listed in the group selector, based on the sub-folders that were uploaded. (See Group Selector for more information about grouping assets in DF Studio.)
When adjusting asset filters, all Setups in a Project are listed in the Setups filter, allowing them to be viewed individually or in groups depending on the filter configuration. This type of display is similar to the editing experience in Adobe Lightroom, where multiple folders can be imported and viewed in one proofsheet view but also filtered down to display individual folders. For more information, see Filter Assets.
Collections do not contain Setups. The Setups displayed in a Collection context represent the Setups from the assets’ source Projects. This allows assets to be filtered or arranged when viewed in Collections, but any changes to the Setups in which assets are stored must be performed within their Projects.
