When assets are viewed in a list or a thumbnail grid, they are broken into sections for faster navigation through the unified, continually scrollable list. The start of each section is indicated with a group header—the group menu at the left of each header specifies which attribute will be used to group assets, and the group selector at the right can be used to skip directly to a particular group of assets with a single click.
Group Assets
Assets may be grouped by a variety of attributes. By default, assets are grouped into virtual “pages” of 100 assets apiece. Use the group menu to choose another attribute.
Assets may be grouped using a variety of factors, including tagging details, file metadata, or Project organization.
- Pages break assets into groups of 100, for easy navigation while scrolling through the continuous proofsheet view
- Setups refer to the Setups in which assets are stored within the current Project (in a Collection context, Setups refer to the assets’ Setups in their source Project)
- Selects group assets by the select levels that have been set in the current Edit
- Approvals group assets by their aggregated approval state, derived from the decisions of Approval Messenger recipients
- Grouping by People uses information from People Recognition and the Person(s) Shown metadata field to gather assets based on the people included
- Key People gathers assets based on the Key People tagged within each asset
- Key Composition breaks assets into Single or Multi categories, based on the number of Key People tagged in each asset (disregarding any people in the image who are not tagged as Key People)
- Star Ratings uses the Star Rating metadata field to organize the assets
- File Types groups assets based on the file types present in their file stacks
The active grouping criteria is also used to create visual dividers in the Outline Navigator, for easy access or visualization of the structure of a Project or Collection. For more information, see DF Studio Outline Navigator.
Navigate Groups
The group selector menu displays all available groups, with the current group highlighted for reference. The menu can be filtered by typing in the filter input, narrowing the menu to display only groups with names matching the typed phrase.
Typing a number will filter the group selector menu to the group at that position. For example, entering “5” will show only the fifth group in the menu. Pressing the Return or Enter key will navigate immediately to the topmost group shown in the menu.
Select Assets in a Group
To select or deselect all assets in a specific group, click the label at the center of the group header. This action will replace any assets currently selected. In order to add the group’s assets to an existing selection, hold down the Command key (Mac) or Control key (Windows/Linux) while clicking. For more information, see Select Assets.
