Many operations within a DF Studio account are executed as background tasks, meaning the work is queued and executed separately, freeing up the interface for the user to continue other workflows without waiting for the tasks to complete. The Activity Monitor catalogs these background tasks and displays information about their progress to completion.
The Activity Monitor updates automatically (that is, it is unnecessary to refresh the page to check the progress of tasks), and the progress bar will fill in as larger tasks of multiple items are completed.
Click the title of any column in the table in order to sort records within each section by that attribute. Click again to reverse the sort.
This behavior is different when restoring files from Cold Storage. In that case, the progress bar will remain at 0% for 4-6 hours as the file is restored to Active Storage, then jump directly to 100% once the file is fully restored and available for download.
View Account Activity
Account administrators can click the “Activity” button in the left-hand navigational sidebar to view the Activity Monitor for the DF Studio account.
View Activity by Project or Collection
Non-admin users can only view the Activity Monitor filtered to the specific Project or Collection where they have access, but all users can use this filter to narrow the information displayed. While viewing any Project or Collection, the “Activity” button in the right-hand Inspector sidebar can be clicked to view the Activity Monitor with its listing filtered to tasks related to the current Project or Collection.
When viewing the Activity Monitor in this filtered state, click “Remove Filter” beside the name of the Project or Collection in the menu bar of the Activity Monitor to return to the full list of activities.
Filter the Activity List
At the top of the Activity Monitor are three menus which allow filtering the listing to isolate the time frame of the task, which user initiated it, or which type of operation.
Clicking a user’s name or a category label from the list will also filter the list to items matching that attribute.
When accessed from the “Activity” button in the navigational sidebar, the Activity Monitor will display the same filtered state as when it was last viewed. It may be necessary to clear a Project/Collection filter to see the desired activity.
Customize the Activity Monitor
The order of the columns displayed in the Activity Monitor can be customized. Click the “preferences” icon in the bottom right corner of the workspace to access the customization menu, then drag and drop the column labels to adjust their order in the Activity Monitor. Click “Save” to update the view with the new column order or “Cancel” to return the columns to their prior order.
Download Watermarked PDFs
PDF proofsheets with watermarked previews are generated by a background process, and can be downloaded for a period of five days after their creation. Once the proofsheet process has completed, the download link can be found in the Inbox, or in the Activity Monitor alongside the specific process.

- The total number of items included in the operation.
- The number of items completed successfully.
- How long ago the operation was started.
- How recently the activity record and progress bar were last updated.
- A button labeled “Copy Support ID”—click this button to copy a unique code to the clipboard which can be shared with DF Studio support when requesting assistance with a particular activity.
